I have specialized in orthopedic rehabilitation for well over 30 years, which included clinical mentor-ships in Detroit, MI and my hometown of Western New York, where I majored in Physical Therapy. I evaluate and treat a variety of disorders ranging from headaches, (from the neck); jaw pain or TMJ; neck & shoulder pain; mid-back and lower back pain, both with and without Sciatic involvement; hip, knee, foot & ankle pain. Problems with balance & walking difficulties.
After I obtained a sound foundational education in Buffalo, I sought out a clinic of renown with master clinicians; they were trained by European and Scandinavian therapists; they are the highest skilled manual therapists in the world. I spent 2 years in a mentor-ship program, directly under the supervision of a master physical therapist in the Detroit region and returned to school for further manual training in orthopedic therapies at suburban MI's Oakland University.
After continuing to practice and master these skills, I returned to the Buffalo area, where I was again fortunate to mentor with another master clinician skilled in manipulative thrust techniques of the spine & extremities.
I now live & practice in Cary, NC, where I reside with my wife, daughters and 3 dogs. After years of working in large group practices, I have decided to better serve the health-seeking public in solo practice where I can concentrate on each patient as a unique individual emphasizing continuity of care, rather than economies of scale or a corporate business model.
I also have a keen interest in the science of fitness, strength & physical conditioning. I study and employ these principles in my ice hockey career and now with my daughter, an elite player in the NCFC academy soccer program.

Once we have your demographics and insurance information, an initial visit can be scheduled. This includes: a thorough medical history, (often rushed thru in modern healthcare); emphasizing the problem or injury, details of your symptoms & how they behave, other pertinent information including any medications, prior surgical history, lifestyle and goals for attending treatment.
Physical Examination: this includes the area of your complaints, the area above and below the symptoms and areas or structures known to refer pain to these sites.
Physical assessment is inter-related with treatment and based on the exam findings; the results must be constantly re-assessed to be sure we are headed in the right direction; towards a successful discharge from physical therapy. My manual treatment is based on gentle to moderate passive movement; graduating to active and eventually resisted movement to prepare for a return to normal activities of daily living; be they work, hobby or sport, (specific)/ recreation. An individualized self-care program will be issued, (usually on your smartphone) detailing specific use of heat, cold, positioning and exercise tailored to your unique condition and lifestyle.
The last sessions are devoted to making sure you are out of the symptomatic and dysfunctional stage; making sure the body part is moving fully and painlessly; a final Self-Care/ Home Exercise plan is modified as needed. Questions are fielded and I avail myself to you in the future if needed.
