Welcome to orthomarc.com

Welcome

I've specialized in orthopedic rehabilitation for well over 33 years, which included clinical mentor-ships in Detroit, MI and my hometown of Western New York, where I majored in Physical Therapy.  I evaluate and treat a variety of disorders ranging from the head/ neck to the foot and ankle regions.

Additional Information

MISSION STATEMENT: My goal is to provide the most patient focused care available in the Cary area, including the surrounding regions of Raleigh and inner ring suburbs.  This commitment includes a one on one relationship with each patient that only a solo practitioner can provide.  Continuity of care is critical for the patient and therapist, as you learn things about that unique individual at each session, rather than seeing different clinicians, (assistants and aides) at various appointments.  This allows me to hone in on details about your symptoms, physical dysfunctions and problems related to activities of daily living.  It is also essential to constantly monitor the patient's signs & symptoms during each session to work within the tolerance of the patient and stay on track towards achieving the ultimate goal of symptom reduction/ resolution and restoration of maximizing functionality.

I share a major patient concern regarding the tremendous cost of healthcare in this country and the most helpful thing I can do for the health-seeking public is to use the principles above to decrease the amount of visits and duration of care.  In most cases, my average length of care ranges from 4-8 visits; based on the amount and severity or chronicity of the problem(s).

Mark, his wife Jane and daughters Sarah & Laurel  have lived and worked in Cary for 16 years now and have watched the area grow exponentially, (including traffic) during that time.  Therefore, we realize that time can be as valuable as money.  Getting and staying well in a timely manner is important to the patient and my actions are aimed at expediting your recovery by attention to detail.  This includes a custom self treatment and home exercise program that can be put on your cellphone for verbal and visual instruction.

The Beginning

Once we have your demographics and insurance information, an initial visit can be scheduled.  This includes: a thorough medical history, (often rushed thru in modern healthcare); emphasizing the problem or injury, details of your symptoms & how they behave, other pertinent information including any medications, prior surgical history, lifestyle and goals for attending treatment.

Physical Examination: this includes the area of your complaints, the area above and below the symptoms and areas or structures known to refer pain to these sites.

The Middle

Physical assessment is inter-related with treatment and based on the exam findings; the results must be constantly re-assessed to be sure we are headed in the right direction; towards a successful discharge from physical therapy.  My manual treatment is based on gentle to moderate passive movement; graduating to active and eventually resisted movement to prepare for a return to normal activities of daily living; be they work, hobby or sport, (specific)/ recreation.  An individualized self-care program will be issued, (usually on your smartphone) detailing specific use of heat, cold, positioning and exercise tailored to your unique condition and lifestyle.

The End

The last sessions are devoted to making sure you are out of the symptomatic  and dysfunctional stage; making sure the body part is moving fully and painlessly; a final Self-Care/ Home Exercise plan is modified as needed.  Questions are fielded and I avail myself to you in the future as needed.
